Birds and Festivities in southern Arizona

Many members of our greater lab group spent yesterday birding in and around Sierra Vista in far southern Arizona. After enjoying Painted Redstarts, Arizona Woodpeckers, Buff-breasted Flycatchers, Vermilion Flycatchers, and dozens of other great birds, we gathered for the afternoon at the Aguillon family home for a wonderful BBQ, with great food and conversation in the foreground and the famed Ramsey Canyon in the background. Thanks to PhD student Stepfanie Aguillon for organizing (we are all jealous of the setting where she grew up…), and super-special thanks to her parents Carrie and Jose for being so welcoming of our group of birders and scientists!!!
