Stepfanie and grad diversity preview weekend featured by Grad School

The Cornell graduate school just posted an nice article about this year’s EEB graduate student diversity preview weekend, which was co-led by Stepfanie Aguillon from our lab group. This event is a stellar example of the graduate students self-organizing to work together in a targeted, highly effective way to increase the diversity of individuals in the graduate training pipeline, not only at Cornell but more generally. The 40 visitors spent the long weekend getting extensive mentoring and coaching on all aspects of how to apply to graduate programs. Participants came from all across the USA (including Puerto Rico and Guam), and their travel costs were covered by funds raised by our EEB grads. Kudos to Stepfanie and her colleagues for deploying their efforts in such a meaningful fashion — this program should be a direct model for a University-wide initiative!
