Irby is back from Galapagos

I (Irby) just returned from leading a trip to Galapagos for 12 Lab of Ornithology members, including our recently retired lab manager Laura Stenzler. Most special natural history moments this time around included swimming with orcas at VERY close range, following a feeding frenzy of 20+ Galapagos Penguins, snorkeling with a young and curious Flightless Cormorant that tried to sit on my head, witnessing a long fight between two large male marine iguanas, and watching three Galapagos Hawks squabble over the placenta while a mother Galapagos Sea Lion bonded with her newborn.
